Sam (aka “Rip Van Winkle”) is a 6 year old cream greyhound (retired).
Sam was a bit of celebrity in his day – this champion was trained by Gippsland trainer (Dawn Johnson) and had winnings of more than $18k in prize money for his owners. Racing mostly in Gippsland, Sam showed the Queenslanders his winning skills as well as in Melbourne. Retiring the end of 2018, Sam was fortunate to be adopted by a loving dad in Loch Sport.
With his racing days behind him, Sam now enjoys his retirement by going for a run on the beach, going for walks and sleeping (and sleeping, and sleeping - his dad thinks he’s making up for his early morning training and racing schedules). Ha ha.
Some of the things he’s let his dad (John) know that he loves are:
Loves meeting new friends (4 & 2-legged variety) – wanting to make friends with every person and dog he meets on his walks.
Loves food from the K9 Experience (of course – only the best will do for a retired Champion!!)
Loves it when his dad’s friends come over to visit with their dogs.
Oh, did I say he loves ‘sleeping’ – ha ha
What Sam hates:
Otherwise, he’s pretty lay back.
Congratulations SAM– you’re our January “K9 Star of the Month” – your name will now go in the draw to win prizes for ‘K9 Star of the Year’ (drawn November 2021) AND your photo will be included along with CASHEW's in the K9 Experience Calendar for 2022.
Sam - enjoying his favourite past time ha ha.
